Online lottery has grown in popularity since it was first launched in the United States back in 2012. It allows players to purchase tickets via an internet-enabled device. In fact, the Pennsylvania iLottery launched in 2018 and saw traditional game sales increase by more than $4 billion the following year, with growth continuing to be steady. While opponents have legitimate concerns regarding problem gambling and the state’s constant search for new revenue sources, cannibalization is not one of them.
Besides a user-friendly interface, many top lottery sites also offer a variety of systems for picking numbers and predicting the outcome of each draw. They are often compatible with both Android and iOS devices and can be accessed anywhere with Wi-Fi or mobile data access. Some even have a database of previous results that goes years back to help players make informed choices.
The online lottery market is highly competitive with a large number of local and international players competing for market share. Key players are focused on optimizing their offering and expanding geographically, while acquiring smaller companies to strengthen their presence. In order to achieve these goals, they are investing heavily in research and development as well as pursuing strategic partnerships with technology providers.
